Lydia Street Gallery celebrates internationally renowned photographer, Professor Emeritus, Lawrence McFarland, with a special evening, EAT, DRINK, ART! on June 8th, 2023, from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Guests can sip & nosh tapas from Chef Fer Candil of Paellas, Tapas & More  
while enjoying a private viewing of McFarland’s photography, meet the artist and hear his perspective on his life and work . The gallery will also raffle one of McFarland’s photographs at the event. The cost is $35.00 per person and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Austin Pets Alive.

Hailing from Dodge City, KS, McFarland has documented the American West for six decades. From majestic to the desolate, McFarland attempts to reconcile his vision of the landscape from the western films of his boyhood, Native American sacred lands, and his own dreams, leaving the viewer breathless. McFarland was sometimes accompanied by his Native American friend, Will, usually with his trustee companion, Kodak (the dog, who often “photo-bombed” his work, initially to his dismay, & in retrospect, to his delight), both of whom have now passed. Lawrence's deep love and reverence for animals make the choice of Austin's beloved non-profit a perfect match. Recipient of three National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships and a Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, his work is collected by numerous museums and institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art.
